Castle Carleval
An ancestral castle built by the Satyrs and moved into by the Human Duntum family, hidden in the Forgotten Forest and guarded by unruly spirits.
The castle is made from obsidian and shards of green and gold glass that sparkle in the sunlight. The two giant doors of the main entrance creak open, revealing an enormous grand hall with an interdimensional rift crackling with black energy at its far end. - Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)

Architecture
Lady Dorothea Duntum records how ill-fitting the castle is for Human residents;
Castle Carleval was not made by any builder from Nalos. It was built by the Satyr, a fact made evident by the complete irrationality of its layout. The hallways are too narrow, and the windows too low to the ground. The bedrooms are either so large that one becomes lost in them or they are suffocatingly small. I’ve never felt at home here. - Lady Dorothea Duntum, Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)
Operations
Castle Carleval was once lived in by the Duntum family; however, it never quite felt like home to them;
Castle Carleval was never really a home for me. Though we have wards to protect it, the spirits still break through from time to time. Perhaps, in truth, the castle belongs to them. Or to the Satyr who built it. Or to no one. All I know is that I cannot claim that it belongs to me. I have spent my days here like a houseguest, as if waiting for the moment we would pack our bags and return to our true home. - Lady Dorothea Duntum - Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)
Relations
The Satyrs who originally built the castle and have a birthright to it, led by Jara, contest with the Human Duntum family, who have lived within its walls since the end of the First Great War;
The map to the Forgotten Forest has been passed down through my family for generations. Without the illuminating stone, it appears to be simply a blank sheet of parchment. It is only when held beneath the stone’s true light that the map to Castle Carleval reveals itself. - Lady Dorothea Duntum - Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)
Depending on the outcome of the battle held there, a peace may be brokered between the two parties.
The witch Zerith of the Starlit Door wishes to keep the Castle impartial so that she may continue her studies of the Ghost-Eaters;
A rift has opened there that has allowed the Ghost-Eaters passage to our world. The Duntum’s will surely seek to close it. I am studying the magical properties of these creatures, and there is still much to learn. - Zerith - Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)

Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)
Upon arrival at the castle, King Taron's body is found on the floor of the main hall;
On the floor, you discover King Taron’s body, cold and pale but perfectly preserved. He is missing the pack he had when he entered the rift in Sabek. Taron’s spirit enters the room and, to your surprise, re-enters his flesh, causing a reanimated King Taron to sit upright, gasping for breath. - Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)
If you encountered Warden Mercy in the Forgotten Forest, Taron will remove her tracking beetle.
Ghost-Eaters will then spring upon you:
- Attempt to talk them down:
- Succeed, and they will leave you with a mysterious mark, returning to whence they came.
- A horde of angry spirits surround you to defend the castle.
- Fail, and they will advance.
- Fight:
Depending on which side of the Castle Carleval conflict you have found yourself - on that of the Duntums or that of the Satyr - they will come to your aid and fight off the impending threat;
If you helped neither of them reach the castle, then you fight alone:
- Swiftly defeat the opposition:
- If you fought by yourself, you keep Castle Carleval to yourself.
- Fail:
- If you fought the Ghost-Eaters, the rift grows too large and Castle Carleval implodes.

Sleecrath instructs you to finish your quest and then meet her at the Ancestral Castle.
“Gather as much time as you can. Do your work well, and you won’t disappoint your oracle. You shall have my needle when all is done.” - Sleecrath - Silver Threads of Fate (LC1)
Entering the castle, you follow the sounds of ethereal tinkling, a sound you have heard many times in the presence of Sleecrath. You find her in the center of the castle, weaving together thousands of shimmering silver threads.
“Sewing planes together is no easy work,” Sleecrath informs you. “Take a trip to the Dragul lands someday and you’ll see my first efforts were less than perfect. The more you bind things together, the more tears in the fabric you encounter. Like this.” She gestures to a strange shape emerging from the center of her woven sphere.- Silver Threads of Fate (LC1)
- You entangle the orbs into Sleecrath's stitching.
- Sleecrath has to clean up your mess for you.
You may also find yourself having to face one or more associates from your past.
Investigating the room and threads of time, many of your allies will relive memories, good or bad, from their past.
When all is complete, Sleecrath makes her way through the rift. She invites you to join her when you feel prepared and ready.
