The serious, often permanent, bodily injury to a person or creature. It can be caused by a variety of encounters with animals, traps, magic, or face-to-face battles.

Side effects vary in severity, determined, in part, by the location of the injury. Common side effects include:

  * Loss of limb or eye
  * Loss of mobility
  * Permanent disfigurement
  * Physical impairment
  * Profuse bleeding

In all situations, quick action and proper first aid are essential for the victim's chances of survival.

====The Frozen Expanse (GS-ADV6) ====
While exploring the [[ice_caverns|ice caverns]] in the [[frozen_expanse|Frozen Expanse]], you find the smoldering remains of a campfire. Someone has clearly been here recently. 

Approaching the fire, you inadvertently step on a well-hidden [[bear_trap|trap]]. Your cries of pain echo through the [[ice_caverns|caverns]] as the steel teeth embed themselves into your leg.

Carefully removing yourself from the [[bear_trap|iron jaws]], you quickly bandage the wound as best you can. This injury will severely hamper you and your party moving forward. As time allows, applying fresh bandages will aid in your recovery.
